What We Do
West Michigan Working Equitation is dedicated to promoting and supporting the sport of Working Equitation through comprehensive clinics, workshops, show management, and personalized coaching. Our mission is to introduce and grow this exciting equestrian discipline across all levels, from beginners discovering the sport for the first time to advanced riders perfecting their craft. We believe in creating an inclusive community where riders of all backgrounds can develop their skills and passion for this dynamic equestrian sport.
With a focus on education, competition, and community engagement, we provide the resources and expertise needed to help riders and horses get started and excel in Working Equitation. Our experienced coaches and event organizers are committed to delivering high-quality instruction and professionally managed competitions that showcase the versatility, partnership, and horsemanship that define this discipline.
Our Services

Clinics & Workshops
Workshops, clinics, and practice day training sessions led by experienced instructors covering all aspects of Working Equitation, including dressage, jumping, and obstacle work for riders of all skill levels. Individual or small group practice days by appointment in Ada, MI
Upcoming clinic: May 9th 2026 with Alex Tyson at the Battle Creek Hunt Club in Augusta, MI from 8 am to 5pm. Clinic cost $100 for group lesson. Groups divided by level. Intro to Level 5.
Stalls available for $25.
Audit clinic: Free/no charge
Practice day sessions coming in May 2026. Call or email to schedule an appointment for a two-hour practice session in Ada, MI. Minimum fee is $50 for up to 4 per group.

Professional Coaching
Personalized one-on-one coaching programs with Josie Irene Wright designed to develop your horsemanship skills, improve your partnership with your horse, and prepare you for competition.

Show Management & Events
Professionally organized Working Equitation competitions and events that provide riders with opportunities to test their skills, gain experience, and connect with the broader equestrian community.

About Us
Tracy Betteridge has a lifetime of experience in training her own horses and competing in multiple equestrian disciplines including Speed events, 3- day Eventing, Fox Hunting, and both English and Western Dressage. For the past several years she has found her new passion in Working Equitation and has made it her mission to help riders of all disciplines to get started in the sport of working equitation. Tracy serves on the USA Working Equitation Affiliate Organization committee.
Josie Irene Wright Owner and head trainer of “Wright Way Horsemanship,” offers specialized dressage training rooted in Classical Horsemanship principles. She has ridden since she was 2 years old and has earned multiple championship titles across multiple disciplines. Her expertise is in biomechanics and healthy movement. She is extremely skilled at helping horses find harmony in their body and mind, fixing biomechanical problems and ensures riders develop both skill and sustainable technique.
